History

The proposal to establish a research center for the iron and steel industry in Iran was initiated by the Iron and Steel Society of Iran for the first time at the Steel Symposium in 2011 and was welcomed and approved by the directors of all large steel companies.

At Steel Symposium held in 2012, the necessity of establishing such a research center that turn the research results and researchers’ innovations into technology instructions was also approved. In accordance with the resolution of this Symposium, steel producing companies as the main shareholders agreed to allocate a percentage of their sale revenue related to the research to construct and equip this research center.

Eventually, MISTR was registered with the participation of major steel producing companies as the shareholders in May 2017 and as the first research center in the country which is supposed to be the pilot plant of steel production, established and officially started its work.
